In twenty-first Century, China's synthetic resin industry entered a period of rapid development. China has become a major producer and consumer of synthetic resins in the world.

In 2011, the capacity of China's synthetic resin reached 55 million tons, the output reached 48 million tons, the apparent consumption reached 74 million 56 thousand tons, and a complete industrial system including resin synthesis, modified alloying, matching auxiliaries, mechanical mold, processing and application was formed.

More importantly, as an important part of the new material industry, the synthetic resin industry shoulders the dual responsibilities of structural adjustment of petroleum and chemical industry and material support of strategic emerging industries, and its status and role will become more and more important, with great potential for development and market.

China's synthetic resin industry has been developing rapidly, but has also accumulated some deep-seated contradictions and problems. The outstanding performance is that the technological innovation capability is not strong, the core competitiveness of enterprises is weak, the industrial chain is not perfect enough, most products are at the low end, the high-end products rely on imports for a long time, the pressure of resources and environment constraints increases, and the production costs of enterprises rise.

To solve these contradictions and problems, we need the efforts of every enterprise and the overall guidance and coordination. Especially under the complicated and severe economic situation at home and abroad, it is urgent for the industry to form a joint development force.

Yuan Longhua, deputy director of the industry department, said that in the 1~5 months of this year, China's synthetic resin output increased by 6.9% compared with the poor economic situation at home and abroad.

He pointed out that "12th Five-Year" is a critical period for the pformation and upgrading of China's synthetic resin industry. The organization, coordination, standardization and service functions of trade associations are particularly important.

The newly established China synthetic resin supply and Marketing Association currently has more than 300 member units, covering enterprises and institutions in the field of synthetic resin production and circulation.

On the same day, the first member congress of the association elected Zhao Jungui as chairman and Zheng as secretary general.

The main responsibilities of the association are to reflect the enterprise's demands, carry out industry surveys, and put forward opinions and suggestions on the economic, industrial policies, laws, regulations and industry development plans to the government; carry out industry statistics according to authorization, collect and analyze industry information, conduct industry self-discipline, regulate enterprise behavior, and maintain fair competition in the market.
